| Laverne was going
on three months old when she came to me, so there isn't much to tell about
her past. LaVerne, or "Vernie" as I called her, was my first deaf
dog. We may have alot of dogs in our lives but there is always one
that stands out in our minds and in our hearts above the rest. For
me, it was and always will be Vernie. I used to tell people that
I couldn't love her more if I had given birth to her myself. No one
ever knew she was deaf. All we had to do was look at each other and
we knew what the other wanted. If I could only use one word for Vernie,
it would be EVERYTHING. She was that and more to me. Vernie's
life was cut very short when she passed away at the young age of three.
With her, she took a big chunk of my heart. Vernie was the best gift
I have ever been given. I will love her and miss her forever.
But I also know she will be waiting for me, but this time she will hear
me coming. The hands in her square spell her name. Mom loves you
baby girl. |
