In July of 2001, my first sheepie, Jeep, passed away, due to an error made by a vet substituting for his regular one who was out of town.  This was totally unexpected, and completely devastating.

Jeep was one in a million-the bond we had created over the 10-1/2 years we owned each other was amazing.  I think I was away from him a total of 5 or 6 days out of all of those years. (Jeep is represented by the rainbow "angel", looking over both Jasper and Lucy.)

A couple of months later, when I felt I was ready to get another sheepie, my boyfriend at the time found NEOESR on the internet.  What a great thing!  I could have a sheepie again and save one at the same time!  My first meeting with the one and only incredible G/A was to meet Charlie, the OES with the heart problem.  When I first saw him, I started crying-Charlie was the first sheepie I had seen since Jeep had died.  Well, Charlie and I were not meant to be.  G/A wanted him to be nearer to his vet in Boston, as well as wanting him in a home where someone could be there most of the time.    A month or so later, in November of 2001, and still sheepie-less, I got the call.  "Do you think you could take two?"

Of course I could!  One was great, but two had to be even better, right?!
Lucy and Jasper were found wandering the streets of Worcester, according to the shelter they were at.  Jasper was flea and bug infested and really thin;  Lucy had large, nasty callouses on her rear-end and elbows, probably from being stuck in a cement kennel all day.  While Jasper's personality shone through, Lucy was quite distant and didn't even want to be touched.  And, she had some behavioral problems, but nothing too severe.

As time has passed, Lucy has become such a beautiful dog, with such a great personality!  She still has difficulty at times accepting and giving affection, and can be a hagmuffin (my term of endearment for her!), but she's my little peach!
Jasper, as we all know now, has been through so much, just since I have had him.  Yet he has refused to give up.  Between the laryngeal paralysis and the degenerative joint disease and the arthritis in his back, he's still one heck of a happy and beautiful dog.

I cannot thank G/A enough for allowing me the honor of having both of these special sheepies in my life.  I love them so much.......
